On Saturday, November, 8, the volunteers “Hands of Help”, who are attached to the mission The Orphan Care Centre, held the prayerful vigil dedicated to the Prayer for the Orphans Day. The event called as “The Path towards Holiness” began with the displaying of the video-clip about the story of one orphan. The volunteers themselves acted as the directors and actors of this video. The story shows that we should not become self-contained. Even when it seems that everybody has turned away from you, there is always a chance to meet your own earthly guardian-angel and confide in him. After watching the video everybody was to think about three significant components of our way towards holiness – love, prayer and example.
Andrey Sheptytskyi, the spiritual father of the orphans, was the key example of these three components.
During the vigil there were so called “stops”, when the volunteers read the letters written by the orphans to their “Dearest Daddy”.
The peculiar ending of the vigil was the common prayer, which the volunteers later distributed amongst the people and on which there was a name of a child, who longs for mother and father.
The Prayer for the Orphans Day is not the holiday but a day when we think of those who the most need our care and attention.
More on the day of the prayer for the orphans you can read in the author’s article “God, Listen to My Prayer”.
